Chairman’s Welcome - As I write, snow is drifting up against the front door, and daffodils are poking theirnodding heads above the snow! It feels very strange writing about summer and looking forward to the 75th Frenchay Flower show..
But first lets rewind. Our 74th Flower show was another great success. We had a beautiful day and upwards of 2500 people attended. The show was opened by the show King and Queen (pupils of local primary school)who were regally accompanied by one of the Alpaca, very popular new attraction. Once again we were entertained by the Marshfield Brass band who always add to the atmosphere and the Starlight cheerleaders who were great fun to watch. We welcomed back the vintage cars, steam engines, and said hello to our new animal corner.Tim Bowles the new West of England Mayor and our local MP Jack Lopresti awarded the prizes a big thank you for making time in their busy schedules. hey were well supported by our local county and Parish councillors who all helped at the show
The exhibits were of the highest standard from fabulous flowers and vegetables to yummy cakes, not forgetting the WI and their famous cream teas.
This year, yes the 75 Frenchay Flower Show will once again offer all the traditional exhibits judged in accordance with the RHS guidelines. Also Animal corner will be back, and the vintage cars, Morris dancers, steam engines and a large number of varied stalls.
All that is left to say is a huge thank you to everyone who help to make the show happen and those who support this wonderful tradition.
So sort your seeds, dig your veg patch and prune your roses, we need your exhibits
We look forward to seeing you all on July the 14th
Thanks once again
